約翰·施特勞斯（John Strauss）獲密歇根州立大學(xué)經(jīng)濟學(xué)與農業(yè)經(jīng)濟學(xué)博士學(xué)位，現在是南加州大學(xué)經(jīng)濟學(xué)教授。他同時(shí)身兼多家經(jīng)濟學(xué)雜志主編，其中包括《發(fā)展經(jīng)濟學(xué)》雜志主編，是發(fā)展經(jīng)濟學(xué)領(lǐng)域的頂尖經(jīng)濟學(xué)家。

施特勞斯教授的研究結合方法學(xué)和實(shí)證研究分析經(jīng)濟發(fā)展，家庭內部決策，人力資本投資及勞動(dòng)力市場(chǎng)狀況。他的著(zhù)作主要涉及兒童健康，營(yíng)養狀況，食物的生產(chǎn)與消費。施特勞斯教授對發(fā)展中國家的經(jīng)濟問(wèn)題非常感興趣，在對印度尼西亞在金融危機前生活質(zhì)量的研究中，他組織收集的大量數據成為許多實(shí)證研究的基礎。
