北京大學(xué)中國經(jīng)濟研究中心聯(lián)合創(chuàng )始人之一，國家發(fā)展研究院教授，曾任北京大學(xué)副校長(cháng)。海聞教授1982年畢業(yè)于北京大學(xué)經(jīng)濟系，獲經(jīng)濟學(xué)學(xué)士。1983年畢業(yè)于美國長(cháng)灘加州州立大學(xué)，獲經(jīng)濟學(xué) 碩士學(xué)位。1991年畢業(yè)于美國戴維斯加州大學(xué)經(jīng)濟系，獲經(jīng)濟學(xué)碩士和博士學(xué)位。海聞教授的主要教學(xué)及研究領(lǐng)域為國際經(jīng)濟學(xué)（貿易與金融）、發(fā)展經(jīng)濟學(xué)和轉型經(jīng)濟學(xué)。主要研究領(lǐng)域為國際貿易、發(fā)展經(jīng)濟學(xué)等。1993年，他的《國際貿 易：理論、政策、實(shí)踐》 著(zhù)述中有關(guān)國際貿易的政策分析和構想引起海內外經(jīng)濟學(xué)者和企業(yè)家的興趣，也獲得到了國家經(jīng)貿決策部門(mén)的關(guān)注。其后，他和經(jīng)濟學(xué)家林雙林合寫(xiě)的《管理中的經(jīng) 濟學(xué)》，由他主編的《轉軌中的俄羅斯經(jīng)濟》《中國鄉鎮企業(yè)研究》等學(xué)術(shù)著(zhù)作對中國經(jīng)濟運行的提示和分析受到高層領(lǐng)導的夸獎。他已在A(yíng)merican Economic Review等國內外雜志上發(fā)表相關(guān)論文多篇，如今海聞教授的學(xué)術(shù)研究成果已經(jīng)成為中國經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的最重要的參考文獻之一。海聞教授無(wú)疑是我國經(jīng)濟發(fā)展和社會(huì )變革進(jìn)程中一個(gè)重量級的人物，2005年，曾有媒體這樣評論海聞：“他歸 國10年，以極具個(gè)性的思考激活了中國經(jīng)濟精英的學(xué)術(shù)話(huà)語(yǔ)， 給中國經(jīng)濟研究帶來(lái)清新的空氣，拓寬了中國經(jīng)濟發(fā)展的思路。他對中國經(jīng)濟核心癥結的解剖和研究，影響了中國改革開(kāi)放的進(jìn)程。”
